Grooming For Drape Coats

What breed Smugacrest?

"Drape coat" could mean anything from a Lhasa to an Afghan to a Setter - and I'd probably treat all coats differently!

What products have you tried and what is the result that you would like to achieve? :(

Breed is a chinese crested powder puff, I almost have his coat on the ground but what I'm really trying to acheive is keeping it. so what I'm looking for is a complete new system in washing and treating coat though the week.

I have tryed pure paws, animal house,Bio groom and lots of human products

I used Pantene on my gold Lhasa's. On my black bitch she was best in #1 All Systems. For good drape I used LaserLites Silk, mixed with a little All Systems conditioner - gave a fantastic finish to the coat, made it drape beautifully.

Unfortunately its all trial and error as every coat type needs a different approach.

I would be interested to know what Animal House products you have tried. Particularly with your cooment about trying to keep the coat. If you are looking for something to use on the coat between shows, if you go to their website, www.animalhouse.com.au they have a mixture called The Mixture that is great to leave in coats between shows

Well i have tryed the conditioning treatment (animal house) would never use it again mass of knots thats all i got from it, I'm lucky to have got all knots out using cheap nasty conditioner but it worked better then that stuff.Thank goodness it was undercoat and not top coat i lost.

I am sorry to hear that you had problems, as I use it on my dogs and have never had such good results from other brands, and I have tried virtually all of them.
