Budyjelle
Today I took Maxine (18 week old - Cocker Spaniel Cross) to Uriarra Crossing on the Murrimbidge River for her first swim. There was no hesitation, she was into the water and with a bit of encouragement, swimming eagerly within 5 minutes We stayed for an hour...but after that, Maxine seemed to tire LOL Is swimming good exercise for a Puppy and how often should I take her?...any advice anyone? cassie
Swimming is great exercise for dogs of all ages! It takes the stress off of young and growing, or old and sore joints. I would have thought a whole hour was a bit long for a young pup? My opinion only, I'm not basing this on any fact as I really wouldn't know. Budyjelle
I was there for an hour Cassie, but Maxine was only in the water for 15 mins.....then there was the walking, the running, the lying down, the shaking, the sniffing, the chasing, the jumping and the panting Thanks...I think I will go agin on saturday and see if I can take some pictures

Vehs
you could have invited some Canberra Dolers for the 2nd outing! glad she had a good time - take her as often as you can while the weather is warm enough I say! (once a week?)

Jamaica
swimming is the best low inpact exercise for your dogs, also good confidence building and fun. just be careful on how much dirty water or salt water they digest.
