pesh
Hi Just wondering what people find the most effective in THEIR area. Here on the NSW Central Coast again this year we are being eaten alive with fleas. To the point of dogs being anemic (sp?), and not from lack of care. I generally use permoxin, and then in 24 hours get the client to use a spot-on or a tablet for the treatment of fleas & worms. With the client who listens, and when we've exhausted all avenues and still fleas persist, even when the bedding and WHOLE property is treatedwhat, what do you do? There is only so many chemicals you can put on animals and the enviroment. Please for those who will come on here and say, don't let them get out of control in the first place, DON'T. I'm talking about thousands of fleas, not just a couple, literally thousands on property's and hundreds on dogs that are maintained. Thanks for your imput. If there is some natural ways, I'll be putting them in writting and handing them out to clients to try. Edited February 24, 2008 by pesh

Cavandra
Mid North Coast NSW is infested with Fleas. All my customers who use Frontline Plus have fleas, all those on Advantix 2-3 weekly dont have fleas. (doesnt last 4 weeks) Innovair These things supposedly work, indoors & also need one outdoors too. Natural products like Neem oil work also, but like most essential oils you cant use them on pregnant bitches. Someone on here the other day swears by 50:50 lemon juice , water in a spray bottle. Lime the soil/grass
Rysup
Sydney here - changed to Advantage and its working brilliantly. We tried sprays for dogs, sprays for yard, Frontline spot on and spray etc. Nothing was working. They were in plague proportions. I gave everyone a capstar, a bath and Advantage and NO MORE FLEAS! If I see a flea, its usually around the end of the month, but as time goes on, I am finding it lasts longer. Maybe the fleas in the environment are dying off though? Clyde
Pesh I'm finding that too, even with my most fastidious clients. They are the worst I've seen in many years of grooming (same with ticks). Advantage(or Advantix) FORTNIGHTLY is how I'm treating my own pets and recommending to others. I've noticed efficacy drop off at about day 15 as mentioned above. Even clients who have done all the recommended treatments and house/yard sprays are still getting a few - but others are just in plague proportions! Dali-love
often what i find with my customers is that they treat the dogs but not the cat (as the cat always seems clean and appears not to have fleas); don't move furniture if they bomb themselfs (where the majority of eggs/larvea will be); don't seem willing to find out where investation is coming from (too much hassle...) for myself, I used to use Frontline and never had a flea. For one or other unexplained reason I changed to Advantix 3 month ago and since than my dogs have fleas. Only 1-4 but still. Now I am forced to bomb the house myself... FGM
I work in a grooming salon and dogs are coming in with fleas who have never had them before and lots of ticks too.My dog has advantix now fortnightly,I found changing product worked well and using flea wash aswell.Ipswich area.Lots of people coming in saying they are overrun with fleas. It is useless me treating my property when next door neighbour has two dogs overrun with fleas also! I remember as a child my parents gave our collie fresh garlic in her dinner to help with flea control. Edited February 25, 2008 by FGM
