longdogs Posted February 24, 2008 Share Posted February 24, 2008 My boy Basil hasn't been at all well the last couple of days. He has a leaking valve, graded severe 6 months ago, and has been on heart meds for a few months now. He has been doing great up until Friday night. He developed a cough during the night, and was no better by morning, so I gave him an extra fluid tablet. That seemed to work, the coughing stopped, but he is just not himself. He has also lost some of his appetite which is so unlike him. I suspect the leak has got worse. I know it will, it's just a matter of when. Please keep him in your thoughts. Hogz thank you so much Hogz, I have just decided I am not going in to work at the usual time tomorrow. I normally start at 7am, but have just rung my boss and told him I will wait for my vet to open and try and get Basil in earlier. I am very lucky they are ok with that, too bad if they weren't, I would do it anyway. He ate his dinner with gusto tonight, so that is good, but would only worry about him while i was at work, so would rather get him seen before i go to work. longdogs Posted February 25, 2008 Author Share Posted February 25, 2008 I am just back from the vet, and the news is not good. Basil's heart valve is leaking a lot more and now the other one is leaking too. He is staying there today, so they can monitor him, do oxygen sat tests etc. He has an appointment with a heart specialist tomorrow morning. Depending on what or if they can do anything else for him, I may be making that very tough decision tomorrow. I will not allow him to suffer.
