kelpiesrule
As we have seen from most posts on this thread it seems to be common with kelpies, well as we all no they are part Dingo :D Actually Wagalot, Kelpies are not part Dingo If I remember correctly, when they started the kelpie breed they tried to mix Dingo in with them but didnt like the cross, so didnt go ahead with it. The Australian Cattle Dog is the one with Dingo in it. Which does surprise me as the kelpie looks more like a Dingo than the Cattle Dog does...Which, i guess, is why so many people think Kelpies are related to Dingos. PS love your Dingo !!! They are such beautiful dogs. Edited February 23, 2008 by kelpiesrule
jesomil
After reading everyones posts i think that they may do it to survey territory. My boy is the only one who has to be up high and he is definately the most territorial. The girls dont ever get on anything. I wouldnt think it had anything to do with backing as mine love backing sheep at any opportunity but only one sits up high in the backyard. Very interesting though. shihspaniel
Just came across this and thought I would add.... I have a cocker spaniel girl who loves to up high, outdoor table, chairs, dining table ;) and have even caught her on the kitchen bench  ... and she is a dominant natured dog. I don't know if that is why she does it or if it is just because she likes it. If she is told to get down she does so quite happily.
