Norskgra
We seem to have an outbreak of fleas at the moment. We think that one of my girls may be in whelp. Can you give Capstar to bitches in whelp? Also they are all due for their Advantrix. I don't have a box at the moment so I can't check whether I can treat her with this or not. Georgie-boy
Both are safe to use on pregnant & lactating bitches.
Gretel
Yes both are said to be safe to use on her. I was in the same position a few weeks ago. They say they are safe but I really didn't want to use any chemicals if I didn't have to.... I treated my other two with Advantix but didn't end up using anything on Ingrid. I flea combed her several times a day and that kept it under control. Mind you I don't think that would work with your girls coat!
Norskgra
Thank you G-B and Gretel. Yes both are said to be safe to use on her. I was in the same position a few weeks ago. I think you are right Gretel. kari has just got her coat back after a major coat dump and I really don't think a flea comb would get through her coat but I will give it a try. wolfgirl
Try a teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in her meal each day, we haven't used any chemical flea control here for the last 5 months and normally fleas are a real problem but since starting the vinegar haven't seen one yet and it's Summer so it much be working. Thanks Wolfgirl but all of our dogs get a teaspoon of ACV with their dinner. Maybe I should increase the amount.
xiaorose
I've just checked my leaflet from both Capstar & Advantix. Advantix does mention that it is safe for use on pregnant and lactating bitches but I couldn't see anything mention on Capstar. Here is Capstar's customer assistance toll free no. 1800 633 768, you can call them and check it out. I normally also add ACV to their water and garlic to their food for additional prevention.
