Choppa Chop
As topic title . Wasn't sure if it should go here or Breeders so as a safe bet went here. What would be the latest you could/would safely abort a litter.
haven
I think you'd get a much better response in breeders CC ETA: Unknown to me (or the previous owner) one of my dogs was pregnant when I bought her home and I didn't find out until the day she actually had the pups when I took her to the Vet after someone suggested she might be having a phantom pregnancy. When the Vet realised it was not a deliberate mating and I had not planned on having pups from her he offered to abort then and there. I declined and IIRC she had the first pup about an hour after I got home from the Vets. I don't know if aborting at that late stage would have been more of a risk than earlier in the gestation period, but this was a very highly regarded Vet. Cavandra
With Alazin (sp?) it is something like 40-45 days. 2 injections I think 1 day apart........ Edited February 16, 2008 by Cavandra
Silverblue
I used the Alizen with success, but my bitch would have only been 2-3 weeks, had it done as soon as she finished her season.
cowanbree
If you mean and leave the bicth entire, I looked into it once and think it was up to about 6 weeks. The bitch would go into labour and abort the puppies. By that stage they would be fully formed. Spaying they will do right up to about 7 weeks

shmoo
Im pretty tired so this is just a short answer.. but i find that desexing a bitch when she is 4+ weeks into the pregnancy if screws up her hormones and can really mess her up emotionally. Kaz (on DOL) can tell you about her experience with a bitch she had in care. :D
