Last tuesday Jeep went to the vet to get a lump cut out and today the vet rang to tell me that it is a Cutaneous Hemangiosarcoma. It looks like they got it all and I am now just researching a bit about it.

He is going back on saturday to get stitches out and the vet is going to talk to me a bit more about it but I just want to hear from anyone that has/had a dog with this and how they are going, like diet, treatment ect

Much appreciated.

Mel

Was he holistically treated for the sarcoma or other issues as well.

Did you get him checked for any other sarcoma's as my vet said its possible that it could be a secondary lump (the one we cut out) - he doesnt believe so but there is that possibility that there is another one and I would like to find out if there is.

I think dogbesotted treats all her animals holistically...

No info on that type of tumour, so I cannot comment on that but would just like to wish you the best of luck with it.

My boy Ollie has cancer and was treated with chemo and holistically - we are now more than two years post diagnosis (when they thought maybe a year or eighteen months)...

Thanx staffyluv, I have been reading your thread on Ollie in the last couple of days. He is definately one brave dog and I wish him all the best.

Do you have any links on Holistics that you could recommed to me for reading, as I would like to start treating him this way.

The type of sarcoma he has is a malignant skin cancer (phase 1) which starts out on the surface of the skin. I am just worried that it could be a secondary tumour so he is now booked in for x-ray on his chest to see if it has affected his heart/chest area, then he will be going for an ultrasound after that to check his spleen area. This type of cancer mainly affects the heart and spleen. Occurs mainly in male dogs with light pigmentation/hair and exposure to UV light.

The vet also said that in most cases the disease can matastise so I have to check him quite regularly for any lumps or unusual skin spots. I cant put sunscreen on him as he just licks it off and I dont know what else to put on him.
