I have been in touch with Orijen (grainless food) people and it's now available in Australia!:laugh:

They said Orijen is now available in Sydney and it will take a few months to get to the other major cities.

I don't know yet who is the distributor in Sydney (hopefully not PP :o like Evo).

Excellent :) . Do you know who is their distributor (esp in Brisbane area)? Thank you!

how can it be classed as grainless when it states on the website that the chicken are "grain fed"??

Far too many Overseas dog foods coming onto the market

What price are they putting on this one out of curiosity?

Heres alink that might help

call me skeptical ...

a product that is low carb but is 25% fruit and veg and full of floral extracts ... since when did wild dogs dig up potatos? I dont get it.

Hey can we do a study on how dogs kidneys cope with this high level of protein? and growing giant breeds?

Holy cr@p! I just saw the large breed puppy is 70% protein and 'special low-ash chicken and fish ingredients, ORIJEN PUPPY LARGE avoids the high ash levels—and subsequently elevated calcium and phosphorus—that are a common concern for large breed puppy owners on high-protein diets"

uhh I wouldnt be putting any of my dogs on this stuff soon

Nekhbet Orijen is 42% protein. The reference to 70% is the meat content.

Somebody also asked what is wrong with Australian foods.Well i can answer that...They are ALL crap! Before Orijen became available i was mostly feeding raw and home cooked with a smidgen of Royal Canin(vet grade),and it irked me that i had to feed a food with such sub standard ingredients.

I've been feeding my fussy tzu's orijen for around a month now and they love it and are doing well.

As for the protein and kidney issues,i have many, many links debunking this theory of high protein equals kidney damage. When i get a minute i'll post them. I dont want to my first post here to be tooo over the top :o:)

You didn't HAVE to feed that food though? :o Plenty of us feed no dry at all.

True :) But one of my dogs is so fussy she eats a limited amount of fresh stuff, which is why i wanted to incorporate a bit of commercial food into their diet. The reason i swayed more toward home made food was because of the limited amount of decent dry foods available here.Thankfully we are starting to see more holistic type foods entering our market, such as Orijen,Artemis et al

Wow Ktee is that you? :p It is isn't it! I'm a BIG fan of your foody posts on CD (not sure if I can name the forum under the TOS here) and was Googling where I could get Orijen sent into the UK from when I spotted this! This will explain the puzzle of the Australia flag  Every thing you say makes sense I even chose my breed of dog because of yours being so good and sticking by you all the time when you are out with them. Trouble is I think I must have got some wrong uns ;) I've lost three of the little blighters so far. Hope this fourth one stays put! But I see you seem to have changed your breed too. Maybe you could not take them with you when you moved to Australia or maybe yours starting bunking off too huh? Hope you have better luck with this new bunch?
