WreckitWhippet
I haven't competed since before the CCD days. I'm wondering if anyone has info on the requirements for the trial. As far as I know it's all on lead, but what do you have to complete in order to pass ? Cheers
PAX
Heel on lead. Stand for exam on lead. Recall off lead One minute sit stay Two minute down stay It's out of 100 and I think you need over 75 to pass, couid be 70. PAX
I have emailed you the rules. It is easier and IMO they pass a lot of dogs that shouldn't pass, but it is meant to be encouraging.
BC
All is on lead apart from recall and stays, and it is out of 100 with a 70 to pass. CD is all off lead and is out of 200 with a 175 to pass
PAX
Alos in CCD the distances are shorter, shorter recall, closer to the dog in stays and SFE.
Silvawilow
Another difference between recall is in CCD is that the dog doesn't return to the heel position. The dog is told to wait/stay by handler, handler leaves dog, handler calls dog, dog comes and fronts the handler and the handler returns around the dog. Sorry if that isn't clear, makes sense in my head!
WreckitWhippet
Cool, I wouldn;t normally bother with it and would go straight to CD with any of my others, but this is for my Greyhound and he needs all the encouragement he can get The rules were what I was looking for, thanks Pax, it will give me a starting point. I'll have to train this one on my own, as I can't attend the class on the day that i would like.

Seita
CCD is 75 points to qualify. CD is heaps easier now too!!! Only one lot of heelwork (offlead), one stand for exam, a recall and a change of position plus the stays! I just had my first trial in about 4 years last weekend and am sooo glad that they finally dumped the two lots of heelwork in novice!

As far as I know it's all on lead, but what do you have to complete in order to pass ?Cheers Hi, the scores for the indiv exercises are 30 pnt heel on lead and like all of our heelwork it includes the figure 8. 10 pnt S.F.E 20pnt Recall The distance that the dog does the recall is approx 10 metres and you return around the dog 20pnt 1 minute sit stay 20pnt 2 minute down stay, both stays are done at an approx distance of 6 metres; And in Novice which is all off lead, you have a choice of exercises of either the Change of Position or Retrieve on the Flat. Also the distance for the recall is at approx 12 metres and the dog returns to heel. The stays are done at approx 12 metres as they are was in the old rule book The best thing that you can do is get a current rule book and study it. Hope that this helps

Is he NOT allowed to in CCD? Or is it an option?
Guest Tess32
So of the dogs who are now competing on leash in CCD, are most of them actually heeling or does it end up loose leash?

BC
So of the dogs who are now competing on leash in CCD, are most of them actually heeling or does it end up loose leash? The dogs are on leash, but they still must be in the correct heal postition with a loose lead. Every time there is slight tension on the lead points are lost. I have seen handlers and dogs not pass due to too much tension on the lead and NQ in the heel work.
