Odd White Spots On His Nose

 Share

Recommended Posts

I noticed this weekend that Jaeger's nose has a few unpigmented spots by his nostrils. This is the first time I've noticed it and I'm not sure what it's caused by and if it's normal or not

He drinks out of stainless steel bowls and doesnt spend much time in the sun

I'm certainly no expert so I'm not really here to offer advice but I just wanted to say, that is an amazing photo you've taken of his nose! ;)

He looks SO healthy that I'm sure it's nothing sinister. Maybe just keep an eye on things and if they change rapidly, get a vet to have a look. He's a gorgeous boy. :)

I actually read that the loss of pigment on the nose usually happens in winter when dogs don't spend enough of time in the sun. If I remember correctly it's because of the vit B deficiency. I think kelp (iodine) help to correct that but you have to be careful with the dosage because you can overdose on iodine.

Just search for "pigment" or "iodine" on the health forum and I am sure you will find lots of info.

Btw he does look stunning ;)

I've been wondering about this to, Sophie has a very black nose and I've noticed a few white spots popping up. The lack of sun makes perfect sense. She pretty much refuses to go outside unless we force her out to pee and its been hardly any sun here latley anyway.
