Seita
Hi, Does anyone know of any clubs in and around Brisbane that do flyball? Prefferably on the south side. I have friends with a young acd x that are interested in getting involved in flyball but don't know where. They will have done basic obedience with the pup before joining a flyball club. Thanks

laffi
I would recommend two clubs: Awesome Pawsome (Mt Gravatt) http://www.awesomepawsome.org.au/ or Flyball Fanatics (Fairfield) http://www.flyballfanatics.com/

Qld_flyballer
I've been with Awesome Pawsome since I moved to Brisbane nearly a year ago, and they are a GREAT bunch! We have some very knowledgable trainers who are dedicated to getting the best from your dog. We're a very sociable bunch whose number 1 aim is to have fun with our dogs and each other, and if we happen to win and race well in the process, that's a real bonus. We are competitive in the sense that we do like to compete, but certainly not in the sense that winning is the only aim. Would love to see you at Mt Gravatt on a Friday night, Seita! (Just not THIS Friday night, as we're all in Canberra at the Nationals, so there's no training!).
Seita
My friends contacted awesome pawsome but they only take dogs over 12 months so they're going to have to wait a few months till their dog is old enough. Perhaps later this year or early next year you'll see them with a dobe/cattle dog named Barney!
storm
cant get either links to open for me, so can anyone tell me what your dog needs to know before they can do flyball? Was thinking of having a go with my Puli, have no idea if she would like it or not
Qld_flyballer
Yeah, we can't actually race or train a dog under 12 months with the jumping or box turning aspects, but if you want to get a head start with your pup, start training some strong recall and to-the-hand ball retrieval work with a stationary ball placed away from you. That will give you a good footing for when the dog is old enough to start the jumping and turning training of flyball.
