Joypod
Hi all, Does anyone know if freezing offal damages it in any way? Does it break down the cell structure or anything like that? Thanks EFS Edited February 2, 2008 by Joypod
Jed
No, as long as it is not frozen for an excessive time
Joypod
Thanks Jed. Can I assume a week wouldn't be considered excessive?

Cavandra
It is always best to freeze ALL meat & bones before feeding, it kills bacteria that us humans are so paranoid about LOL, defrost in the fridge, & no problem.
Diva
Freezing meat does not kill bacteria, it just slows down or stops their multiplication until the meat is rewarmed. Freezing does kill some parasites.
jillybean
The butcher I buy most of my stuff from has offal and pet mince in the freezer all the time, so it must be fine!
Joypod
I'm currently giving Gus all of his raw meat, offal and RMBs frozen. He's just started teething and he also has a tendency to gulp his food a bit. Being frozen helps sooth his gums and slows the little bugger down too.
