Ptolomy
Well a little brag of sorts...........now lets set the picture here........I am not a spring chicken any more.........in fact I have been collecting grey hairs of late...... and...........on Friday and Saturday we had our State Agility Championships and................ I ended up doing 22 runs ;) No wonder I am so sore today! Have to brag about the rent a GSP I ran for a friend. We managed to make 3 out of 4 finals not a bad effort for a dog having to jump 600 when most of the courses were set for 400 and 500 dogs. I was also sent the times thats quaified us for the finals today and we were 2 seconds behind the BC who won open at last years Nationals and was fastest qualifier, and 1.5 seconds behind our only agility champion in WA. No I am not about to change breeds - but would steal this dog in a heartbeat! Thank Emmy for the ride......you are a special girl!
ness
Way to go Ptolomy and Em (not to mention the fact her baby Beans passed in MJ and was 5 seconds under STC) and she also managed a pass with the dear sore Scoota in OJ. 22 runs well hmmmmmmmm that was just enough to keep you busy wasn't it. No need to pay for a gym membership handling that many dogs although you are surely use it it by now. Only you would be silly enough to have 5 dogs qualify for the Western Classic Obedience on the one evening!!!!!
helen
Congratulations everyone, glad you enjoyed the tracking Silvawillow. This little guy returned to me last week, he went to an excellent home but unfortunately their existing dog doesn't like him at all. New owner has raised him beautifully for the time she had him, he sits and drops at super speed and loves to do some work so is going to be a brilliant obedience dog I think

Gamby
I put this in the Setter's thread but my little yellow deserves a mention here too:Well we did the tracking clinic this weekend just gone and Narmi was fantastic She got the idea so quickly, I was very proud mumma! Her article indication was great, she picked the sock up and brought it back to me (lovely retrieve)! Once she had done it once (tracked) when it came time for her second turn she nearly pulled me off my feet when she realised she was coming up to the tracklayer!!!!! I was most impressed with your delightful little Yellow who is so pretty. It was a great weekend wasn't it? The girls in the group were so keen to learn all about tracking. I hope to see all of them at a tracking trial one day. Oh by the way DOL group, there was one tree in particular that got watered frequently on Saturday and Sunday morning :p :p
ness
Hmm I wasn't going to brag but I will anyway. Ness was in her third UD trial on Sun and was last dog in the ring so it was VERY warm by the time we got on not to mention she had been sitting around for ages. Well she worked very well - was up happy and enthusiastic. Did a lovely seekback that if not for copping a substantial for failing to sit would have scored her close on perfect marks. She will give some of those top dogs a run for their money when she gets it together . And finally we have a Directed retrieve that is to die for :p . 19/20 best one done in the ring out of all the dogs. It was the last exercise I trained and its never been one I have been overly confident in yet on the weekend there was clear cut proof she was taking direction. Yee har!!!!!!!!!! Overall for the 15 minutes we were in the ring her tail didn't stop wagging and given the conditions weren't easy for a green utility dog who hasn't been able to train much in the past couple of weeks because of my injured ankle she did VERY VERY well. wylie
Well i am going to have a brag too about one of my bred by Border Collie girls. Orla is 9 months old and she and her owner have only taken up herding in the last 4 weeks or so. A fortnight ago she managed her first HIC pass and a PT pass in Tassie. Then this weekend she gained her second PT pass to gain her title. Orla is the first in the litter to gain a title with 3 other girls hot on her heels. Poppy/cath, Lunar and Kinta are firing up as well for there herding titles in the next month or so. I am looking forward to next month to seeing Poppy/cath in the flesh as i have not seen her since she was 14 weeks old. She will be working towards her PT and then hopefully on to the Herding Nationals in Vic at the end of June. Go the Wylie "Paws" litter. And Yes Leopuppy i laughed when i heard what my Kinta was going to be named. She is also almost ready to trial in CCD and her mum is hoping she will be another OC dog for her. LOL - so my 'rare' name is picking up in the popularity stakes :p Haha - sounds like the litter is going to be quite a versatile bunch for you
piper
A herding brag from SA. Today Piper became the 2nd dog in the state to gain an intermediate herding title (our instructors dog was the first - just 5 mins before us ). She worked well given that she gets very limited opportunities to work sheep. Now we move onto advanced - which I fear with our limited opportunities will be a bit beyond us but we will give it a go. Also onto duck trials - YEAH. And Jazz, not to be outdone gained her instinct certificate. She showed good use of the border collie eye - walking the width of the arena in the full crouch, moving up slowly, step by step, head down low. I am looking forward to doing more with her as I feel she has the potential to be a much nicer worker than Piper, who tends to run too close, be a bit soft and at times "too busy" - she can't stand being still.\, whereas Jazz is happy to lay and watch the sheep if they are clearly not going anywhere. Still waiting for a good home show up but no good so far. Lets just say I have entered him in a show and booked him into Toddler Training at the local vets. He is the cutest little thing, he was well socialised and had heaps of training. He plants his bottom into a sit very quickly if he wants anything. Had him down at the waterfront on Friday, lots of Harleys, a helicopter etc and he didn't even flinch. He went to the local obedience club for some socialisation this morning, met lots of different dogs and people and had a ball. He loves his new friend Gamby (a little bit too much) Edited April 27, 2008 by helen

Andowen
well this is only a little brag... but i have been doing agility training with Bear for about 4 weeks. and she is really a big sook of a dog. she was really scared of the tunnel, the A frame, the dog walk and the tire. but now it seems that it has finally clicked with her. training yesterday and coming up to the dog walk, the instructor and i were getting ready to hold her on both sides and we both had some food to coax her on, and she just did it. i had to run to catch up to her and tell her to slow down. i was soooo proud of her.and only last week she mastered the tunnel, she even goes in when it is curved and she cant see out the other end. i was just so happy and proud of her. i will have to get some photos of her strutting her stuff on the dog walk. just have to get her over the A-frame, and try the see-saw and we will be laughing. so yeah i just wanted to share that :D

Gayle.
My brag is a little one for the dog world but a HUGE one for me. We had our obedience club graduation on Saturday. It's conducted and scored as a trial and you have to pass to move up to the next class. Classes are Puppy (uo to 6 months), Beginners, Class 1, Class 2, Class 3, Class 4, then various trialling classes. Benson and I were aiming to graduate from class 1. We have done tons of work over the past few weeks, tidying up his heeling, his sits and getting him to stay down on a down stay (he prefers sitting up!) We had our turn in the ring and when we came out, I told my friends who were watching that I didn't think we'd passed. They said "But you guys looked fantastic!" I felt our heelwork had been sloppy and the judge had been very critical of everything we did. Later we went back in for the group stays and he did them both beautifully. But I still didn't think we'd passed. Imagine my surprise and delight when they called us up for SECOND place! And a PASS!!! Only 3 passes out of 14 dogs, so I was rapt. And just as special, my 14yo daughter and our puppy Dusty came 3rd out of 8 dogs in the puppy class.
Gamby
[He went to the local obedience club for some socialisation this morning, met lots of different dogs and people and had a ball. He loves his new friend Gamby (a little bit too much) He is such a delightful puppy, so alert, been in this world before and had no trouble with any dog or human being. You fall in love with him as soon as he looks at you. The person who Keeps him or takes him home will be happy for many years having that little fellow in their home. He does love Gambit a little bit too much and Gambit loves him back. Gambit is a sucker for puppies. Congratulatins to all who gained a pass or Title. MolassesLass
On the weekend both my pups passed their tracking qualification tests. Having only trained on grass fields - a hilly, rocky, over-grown horse paddock was a shock to track in, so I chickened out and was tracklayer instead of handler. They both did really well and both judge and steward were impressed. On to real trials now! Edited April 27, 2008 by molasseslass
