Wolfgirl,

how is your girl Pearl?

any news?

We are seeing a specialist on Thursday so just taking one day at a time, thanks for asking Oonga

No worries i know Pearly is not a Rotty,

and i truly hope that none of the owners here will mind,

but do you think you could post in here the results?

I don't see a lot of things in the GSD thread and would like to know Pearl's results.

As long as the other owners are happy for me to do that I don't want to invade their privacy knowing what they are going through themselves, otherwise I will pop it in the main rottie thread

I pop in here each day just to see how everyone is going and hope they have had good days, each day when I was going through Osteosarcoma was a blessing for me and Mr Max.

Just thinking it would be lovely to see some pictures here of the sick kiddies. Understand though if it is too painful.

Would also love to know more about them. It's hard trying to trawl through that mammoth rotty thread to look them up.

Tell us about your dog dogsforall.

sorry i've been away showing for the weekend and only just had a chance to catch up

we brought bonnie as a five mth old pup 11yrs ago now(only feels like 3yrs)

she has given us three beautiful litters got her ch and endurance title and always been very fit and healthy

when she was six she had her last litter by c-section and within a few months she had lumps coming up on her belly

they weren't in the mammary glands but some laid done the centre and some quite close to her boobs of the the vets and biopsy done was told it wasn't a quick killing cancer but extremely fast growing one so had a GA and had them all removed

after the fist op bonnie was like a young pup again so full of life and so much happier then she was before the op but within 4 weeks they were coming back by 6 weeks they were size of golf balls

back to the vets and the vets wanted to try radiation to try and shrink them as they said from the lab test on the first lot the removed all the cancer and if the came back so quickly opener her up again would be pointless as they would probably be back again within weeks

i was unsure what way to go and even though it wasn't mammary cancer i wanted her de-sexed and all mammary tissue removed anyway

so of to the specialist and radiation began

lumps didn't seem to shrink but more started coming up but they were only pea sized lumps coming up

at one stage she got really sick and wouldn't eat and looked like she was dying so off to the vets and low and behold she has pyometra so had to be de-sexed on the spot and was told her chances were very slim of pulling through another op(we are now 10 and half yrs)even though i was told i would be lucky to have 6 mths and had got nearly four yrs i still wasn't prepared for losing her i ask that they remove the lumps that where there while she was under and all mammary tissue as well

after a week i was able to pick her up from the vets(longest week of my life) and was told she also now has skin cancer on her belly as well

so now we are fighting two different cancers

that was six months ago and once she recovered from the op she was like a new girl again but over the last month she has not been doing to well and each day is a huge bonus

there are probably things i have left out but with tears streaming down my face it is hard to think

thank you all for the hugs and well wishes

and for everyone with sick babies our thoughts and prays are with you and a huge big cuddle from me

dfa

My heart goes out to you dfa. To see our dogs going downhill is an awful thing to live with. Is Bonnie seeing an oncologist? I ask because Sophie has come on leaps and bounds since we started with the oncologist. Without her I doubt Sophie would still be here. It is so very expensive though.

I wish you all the best with Bonnie and please do keep us posted.

Sophie is still feeling well. I appreciate all the good wishes, hugs, prayers and healing thoughts.

Hugs from us for all the sick dogs and their owners.

DFA.. That is so sad and i admire your fighting spirit

cavNrott.. I'm so glad to hear that Sophie is doing ok, am back working early now so am not online as late as normal.. Lets hope that she has another good week ahead of her..

Well today wasn't good at all :D

Kiesha wouldn't eat nothing not at all.. Not even to take her meds with.

She was sick 3 times and was basically the same if not worse than her turn last week.

She stood in the middle of the lounge room staring for 15 minutes and didn't respond at all to us.

I have a feeling that she may be starting to lose sight as Jeff walked over to her and she jumped like he was going to hit her with a baseball bat ;)

Very disolusioned and scared just not like herself at all.

I called the vet as soon as they opened and they have taken her off the Feldene for 48 hours.

They wanted her to have nothing during this time but i kicked up a fuss and made them think of something else to give her else i wasn't going to comply..

She has enough to worry about without having to deal with the pain.

They have given me injections to give her for pain for the next 48 hours and they finally gave me some Maxalon for the neusea.

They have also organised to get me the Tramadol in, I asked for either the Tramadol or the Codiene phosphate (sp) that you suggested Chell.. I think that they have organised the Tramadol.

The vet here was not too familiar with it so i faxed them all the information on the studies that i have found and i think that he agrees that it is a good thing to do..

So in 48 hours she will go back onto the Feldene and back to only 1/2 a tablet 2x a day until she workes back up to the full tablet and a Tramadol tablet 2 x a day.

However he may change this to 1/2 Feldene morning and 1 tramadol at night but i doubt it as she needs 12 hour medication at the moment.

Jeff had to give her the injection tonight although i nearly had to do it as he was so scared of doing it wrong. We basically helped each other though.

I held her head and patted her and grabed her skin so he could inject it :p

I was so worried that she didn't eat anything and was soo sick that i got a BBQ chicken from the shop and tried to give that to her.

At first she wouldn't eat it and spat it out but after the Maxalon and the injection she ate at least 1/2 a cup of chicken and 1/2 a cup of fresh mince from the supermarket.

We have now made the move to a more cancer like diet and she is on human grade mince and BBQ chicken, salmon, sardines, eggs, goats milk, yoghurt, cottage cheese and human grade chicken mince, looks like Diesel will also get this plus he will get chicken frames and bones added in, these she cant have as she is not able to chew on bones anyome.

Funny though Diesel would never ever eat the raw pet mince before that i would get, would spit it all over the floor. I hunted all around for a pet mince with no preservative and he still wouldn't eat it.

I got human grade mince and he scoffed it down like i have never seen.

She is happily sleeping now and has not been sick in the 2 1/5 hours that i have been home and she has finally settled. The next 48 hours is touch and go with the medication and to make sure she doesn't go downhill but i have hope that this will be ok.

BP I am so sorry to hear about Kiesha :D Sending lots of positive thoughts that she is much better in the morning. I also use Vitamin C and Noni Juice for the immune system, it seemed to help my boy when we started some of the alternatives. I hope Kiesha has a restful night :D ;) :p Don't ever give up hope, my saying was "It ain't over till the fat lady sings and I will do everything in my power to stop her from uttering a sound", I would say that every morning and believe that every moment we had together was a true blessing, as hard as it gets sometimes you have to have faith.

I hope when I check back in the morning she had a good night.
