Zed still sending lots of wishes for you boy, hope you are doing okay. We are back from the specialist appointment this morning, Pearl will be going in tomorrow morning and staying for the MRI and maybe a brain tap, she has them a bit stumped as two of them went over her and tested her brain function her reflexes are fantastic and the brain is actually sending messages to the body they said normally with brain tumors you can look at the dog straight away and see there is a problem with Pearl apart from being extremely stressed everything has come back normal so far and they said it wouldn't be suprising if the MRI doesn't come back normal but they did explain if there is inflamation there that she is more of a risk with the anaesthetic so until she comes through that I will of course be a bit worried. The only thing they can pick up on is the large vessels in the back of her eyes and they need to find out what is causing this but her vision is perfect so hopefully within the next few days we will have some answers. Sophie is feeling much better now, though she has quiet days on the days she has the chemo tablet. She has them every second day and today was the day so no walk for her. It's a bit hot to walk her anyway. Please update us on Pearl when you find out how the MRI went. Hoping for a good result for her. Zed & Q. How is Zed doing? wolfgirl Posted February 19, 2008 Share Posted February 19, 2008 Well an update I have been stressing all night because the specialist said we would here whether she came through the anaesthetic by 7pm so when I hadn't heard I rang them at 9.15pm and she still wasn't back and they have just rung me to let me know she is awake and staying in ICU through the night and they will ring in the morning to let me know what time she can come home, I feel so relieved now. They are running a Urine Analysis test and also a Hypo Thyroid Test as well, the specialist said she had been thinking about Pearl all night and was really baffled and her lethargy had her very concerned. Said that her brain is functioning normally and sending the correct signals to the body so it is going to be an elimination process if the MRI doesn't give us any results. Should have them by tomorrow night and I will update then. cavNrott hope sophie had a comfortable day and it is still warm here so hopefully tomorrow she can have her walk when it cools down. The specialist thinks the Hyperviscosity is a congential problem. Every test has come back in the normal ranges and they ran many extra tests her red blood cell count is up by 1% so we are at a loos to the cause. Hopefully it will settle down for her and you. Sophie is still feeling well, her tumour is growing very quickly now. Since she seems so well otherwise I'm wondering if the oncologist will suggest debulking it again...I'll find out next Thursday I guess. Took her out walking again today and she was even more badly behaved than last time. She sure has plenty of strength left. Pulling when she wanted to meet another dog. She's friendly but I had no clue of the other dog so we had a struggle on the footpath. Fortunately she doesn't know she could drag me across the road if she tried. We're both the same weight. The onco wants her on a fatty diet and she's put on weight and I've lost some. Being so fit and healthy before this cancer hit her has stood her in good stead to tolerate the drugs she's on. Maia and I went to get some cuddles from Zed today :D we let the 2 of them play off leash and they were just adorable :D they met in the middle of the air, licked each other, shared a drink bowl together, then Zed decided it was time to get down to boogy ;) he proceeded to hump maia left when he was called off like the good boy he is when he realised he was not allowed to hump her, he couldn't stop sniffing her crotch :D they followed each other around the yard, did a bit of chasing. they would go off in seperate directions, only to meet in the middle again and explore the areas the other had been exploring to see what the big deal was ;) they would both come bolting to ZnQ and myself, we cleverly moved out of the way to avoid being knocked over ;) then i was miss popularity as they both bounced in my face getting cuddles, then it was ZnQ's turn to be Miss popularity cause they are considerate and didn't want her feeling left out :D it was then decided that Z had had enough and was time for him to go back into his trailer, Z did NOT agree with this decision and was looking at Maia all forlorn :p as ZnQ lifted him into the trailer, well kind of lifted him while he dug his heels into the ground Maia stood in a beautiful self stack watching him and waiting to see if he required her help :p I told her it was ok, so she sat but did not take her eyes off him. even as he was shoved into the trailer they both watched each other. once Z was inside, Maia bolted over to the door and they proceeded to kiss through the door Thanks ZnQ for allowing Maia and I to have that time with our beautiful boy. She knows pulling is not allowed :D I should give her a good telling off for taking advantage of me. Our trainer would be horrified at her behaviour because she's usually a very obedient and well behaved dog. I'm concerned at the rate her tumour is growing. It's bigger than it was when she had the last surgery. I'm glad she's going to the oncologist next Thursday. She is certainly doing better than her prognosis suggested Oonga. I think the oncologist has her on the right combination of drugs and it's helped that Sophie was so healthy before she got this awful disease. It is never easy to watch someone you love go through these times and I can only ever come back to the saying everything happens for a reason sometimes we just don't understand what it is but never the less we don't have to like it either. Hopefully when we see the oncolgist on Thursday there will be something else we can do to slow the growth of this tumour. It doesn't seem to be as painful as it was. She used to keep turning her head away when a vet tried to inspect her mouth but she's quite willing now to let them examine it. How is Pearl today? Zed & Q, how is Zed after his busy day yesterday? Quality of life is so much more important than quantity. Having them happy is pure joy when you know their time here is limited. Let us know how you and Sophie go with the Onco - hopefully they will be able to slow the growth down some or can they remove some of it? Wolfgirl, it is good news that Pearl does not have a tumour.
