kiahzen
cavNrott... I'm sure that Sophie loves her car rides. I hope that she is feeling ok today and that her tests go ok... We used to take Kiesha for car rides when she was having a bad day or was too tired to walk, to Kiesha a car ride was just as good if not better than a walk.... So many more smells and she would hand her head out the window and let the wind blow through her hair.....
Staffyluv
cavNrott,You just keep doing what you are doing! you know Sophie better than us, better than the oncologist better than ANYONE else!!!! you know what is right for her in your heart! now go and give each other a big hug on my behalf I agree... Only you can know what avenue you are willing and able to take with your dogs and based on what you have told us about Sophie, I would most probably do exactly what you are doing. I hope she is having a good day. Give her a big hug for us. Ollie is not well ATM - I won't clog up the Rotty thread with the MCT stuff but if you are interested there is an update in his thread. shekhina
Anne, as the others have said you know what is best for your girl. I completely agree with you with keeping her safe from anything until you know what's going on with her liver Jaida has mostly been taken off the Tramal (as they sedate her too much) and is taking herbal treatments instead from Robert McDowell. They were very kindly and generously given to me by Anne and I am so very grateful for her help for me and Jaida. She has only been on them for a little while, but is taking all the drops really well on her food and seems to be doing much better than when she was on the Tramal. The treatment time is 2 weeks and then the dose is dropped after then for maintenance. Hopefully Jaida will continue to improve. For now she's happy wandering around and wagging her tail. She's still much quieter than she used to be and the cats are wondering why she's not hassling them all day. BP, how are you doing? I hope things are OK for you Edited March 11, 2008 by shekhina

Allerzeit
Just checking to see how everyone is going and to send mental hugs to furry kids and humans Thinking of you all. SL - I saw Ollies update, sending extra prayers your way. Shek - are you finding that the drops are assisting with Jaida's pain? I was able to take Stewie completely off of conventional pain relief when he was on the drops, but when I took him back down to the half dosage his limp came back. After consulting with Robert, we ended up keeping Stewie on the double dosage. Good to hear that Jaida is taking the drops happily though - they smell absolutely horrible, I used to have to inject them into beef heart and chicken necks to get them past Stewie's nose. Anne - how is Sophie today? Thinking of you and sending healing thoughts to Sophie!
shekhina
Yep, I am finding they're helping with her pain. The first sign I get with her that her pain is increasing is rapid breathing. She has been really, really good today with pain. She's had none of the Tramal, her breathing is fine and she's getting around OK but still mostly resting. She very rarely puts any weight on that leg but she seems happy enough hopping around on 3.

cavNrott
Shek it's encouraging to hear Jaida is doing so well on the herbal mixes. It's great that she's able to cope without the Tramal. The herbal stuff must be good. I couldn't use it with Sophie's drug regime so I'm so pleased it's helping Jaida. Jodie. Thinking of you and Ollie and hoping he rallies the way he always does. Please keep us posted. Ollie's courage and determination gives me hope that Sophie will follow his path and fight this disease. You and Ollie are an inspiration. IHF, Allerzeit and Ci. Your thoughts are always appeciated. I tell Sophie you are thinking of her and wishing her the best. Sophie's ok. The tumour changes every day. It doesn't look as angry and it's growing more slowly. It was chemo drug day today so I try to keep her quiet on those days. "No quiet night tonight", she said. "It's either a game of fetch or I'll pester you all night". We played fetch for 1/2 an hour and I was the one who was tired and ended the game. Edited March 11, 2008 by cavNrott

Swizzlestick
Hi everyone, I've never been in the same situation as many of you here. I'm not sure how I'd cope. Not well I presume. I guess I'd just try and stay strong for my dog, and let it all out at the end. Reading this thread has been very sad yet heartwarming too. It's wonderful that even though you guys have been nursing your own very ill dogs, you still manage to support and comfort others in the same situation. Keep your chins up guys is all I can say. You're all inspirational. Your dogs are very sick, but still so lucky to have great owners who love and care for them as you do.
kiahzen
Glad to hear that Jaida is doing well on the herbal treatment... You can always see what she is like and take each day as it comes with giving her the Tramadol, she may still have days where she does need it so it is good to have it on hand. Having her being a little drowsy is better than having her in pain.... Lets hope that the herb continue to help her and hopefully she doesn't have too much pain to need the tramadol... Thanks for asking about us here, we are ok but miss Kiesha every day and wished that she was still here but not much we can do about that..... cavNrott... Glad to hear that Sophie was up for a game of ball with you.... I hope that she is feeling better tomorrow...

Jodie I am so sorry to hear that Ollie has taken a turn for the worst. I so hope that he rallies overnight and improves greatly. He is a fighter so don't loose hope.
