j
Just wondering if anyone has used this and whether it is any good? At the moment I am fighting a losing battle against fleas. I have used frontline plus, capstar, fidos fre itch concentrate on the dogs, and another one that I can't remember the name of to treat the yard and bedding. I have also put flea collars on everybody. The cats have also had all the above, except the fidos. My friend has just used advantage (or advantix? Not sure which one, but probably advantix as she is in a tick area) without much success either, so I'm just looking for other brands, hopefully with different active ingredients. I'm not sure what the active ingredient in advantage/advantix is, but Frontline is Fipromil, Duogard is Pyriproxyfen 3g/L; Permethrin 400g/L. I presume they do something different? Any advice gratefully received. One of my boys is quite allergic to the bites, so he is quite miserable scratching all day, until his belly is raw
Cavandra
Maybe you should just get one of those electronic pest control devices. Fleas are rampant this year. Have your house & yard professionally sprayed too. Pestrol or Robocan, have been discussed recently on other lists saying they work.

Poodle wrangler
Lots of threads on problem fleas. It's war and if you're half-arsed the fleas will win! I've not had any problems with Advantix- apply fortnightly to cover for paralysis ticks, so is extra dose for fleas (only monthly for fleas). If you're not in a tick area, choose another product. Is too expensive for fleas only. Others include Advantage. Do NOT use with cats, unless you want to kill them! see http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=92212

j
Thanks everyone. No ticks here, so no need for the advantix, but might give advantage a whirl. Will have a look at the other products you've listed here too. Just trying to avoid spending a fortune on products that don't do the job
EISHUND
I'm using advantage. Only works for 2 weeks here The rain we had has caused a bloody flea plague I think! Aaaaggghhh... What does everyone use to spray the yard and stuff? I used to use Duogard, might try it again, from memory is was ok.
