Joyceshn
I have a GSD. He's 10 months old now. We got him desexed last week. These days we found that he lost certain amount of hair on one side of his nose. The other side is still fine. He's not itchy around that spot cuz I haven't seen him scratching. The skin was perfectly smooth (not flaky). The hair was simply gone. Does anyone here know what could be wrong? Here's the picture (sorry it's not that clear cuz I took it with my mobile phone, can't find my digital camera...lol) Edited January 24, 2008 by Joyceshn

havahug
This just looks like a minor rash at this stage but i would take him to the vet as they can give a cream for it. Years ago my old BC got something similar while he was in boarding and it was not treated straight away and he ended up losing all the hair on one side of his face right up over his eye. Once it was treated it cleared up beautifully and all hair grew back and the rash never returned. Good luck
t-time
If he was desexed the other day then perhaps he was crated? He might've just rubbed his nose on the bars of the crate? Depends if he was being a sticky beak at the vet surgery LOL You might be going back to the vets to get stitches out? Just ask them when you go in
Cavandra
Perhaps they taped the tube that side, and when removing the tube & tape the hair came too, or allergic to the surgical tape used????
Scales of Justice
Demodex mites - very common in adolescent GSDs. See the vet for treatment.

puggy_puggy
Maybe an allergic reaction to the anasthetic?

That's what i was thinking too - my Bronx got it on his snout not long after he got desexed as well - didn't look particularly pretty but it was kept under control and was gone not toooo long after
