One Extra Trial?

 Share

Recommended Posts

I have a question that I think I know the answer to.

I have two passes in CCD so need one more pass to get the 'title'.

If I enter my dog in a double trial and get a pass in the morning trial,

can I still compete in the afternoon trial?

On the one hand I will have 3 passes at that point,

but on the other I did not know that when I entered the trial.

My (possibly mistaken) reading of the rules, says that if the entry date for a trial has passed,

then I can still compete because I was not eligible for the title after the closing date for trial entries.

I suppose you could say that having got my title, I should be happy at that point and scratch myself,

but then hey, I had paid my entry fee just like everyone else.

Can someone confirm either way?

Yep that is correct you can enter both trials. Also a point my mum missed when reading her rule book is to make sure you have 3 passes from at least 2 differant judges. :rainbowbridge: she ended up having to do another trial to get her pass!!!

Good Luck with your passes!!!! :rainbowbridge:

As far as I know.........You can compete in CCD as long as you have not entered a Novice trial regardless of how many passes you have.

Not my understanding of the rules:

"COMMUNITY COMPANION DOG CLASS: For dogs, six months of age or over, and of either sex which are not eligible for the title of Community Companion Dog (C.C.D.)."

So once you have gained enough passes to be eligible for the title you can no longer trial in CCD. However if entries have closed for a trial before you get the third pass you can still trial in that class, so Anthony you can still trial in the afternoon trial.

This is correct. If you have 2 passes and have entered a double you can still compete in the afternoon if you get the 3rd pass in the morning as it was entered prior to you having 3 passes. Once you have 3 passes you cannot enter any new trials in CCD class, must be novice from then on.

Thanks FHPR and BC.........I stand corrected. Should not have commented...never competed in CCD.

It all seems a bit odd to me though........I think that once you have the passes then that should be it. I would rather see a complete newby pick up a sash or trophy than seeing an already qualified dog win it!

I feel a bit the same as far as UD dogs competing in CDX class. They can enter as many times as they want. I know thats why its called "Open", but that is not really fair IMO.

Yes, would be nice if there was an Open class for untiltled dogs and 1 for titled dogs so then the newbies have a bit more of a chance to win the ring etc.

I felt a little guilty when Cooper and I won at the Royal. It was my 4th CCD pass, but as entries closed so early, I only had 2 passes when I sent my entry in and gained the third pass just prior to the Royal  Was a good win though and more experience I guess.
