Dogs4Fun
Hi All, I have a dog that is being worked up for possible food allergy. I have permission to trial him with some meaty bones for his teeth, and have been recommended to start with kangaroo (rather than his usual lamb flaps). So ... where can I get meaty kangaroo bones, preferable from roos butchered for human consumption rather than "pet meat". Anyone willing to share their secret sources

Winterpaws
Myella might have them - forgotten their email addy but if you look in the white pages you will find them. They are very cheap for dog food! Sometimes Coles has them in the dog section - but having a brain fart and cannot remember what they are packaged under. They are vacuum sealed and marketed as a meaty bone for dogs

Dogs4Fun
Thanks guys. Any human food sources? I would prefer these to avoid any sulphur issues (have had problems with a different allergic dog before with sulphur),
WreckitWhippet
I've been using The Fresh Meat Store for quite a while now, the quality of the meat has been excellent as has the service. My guys are fussy when it comes to fresh meat and I have no worries with what I order.
cazxxz
If you want human grade roo tails, they will be a bit more expensive. I'm not sure if it's that important to get human grade roo meat though - as long as you worm your dog regularly it should be fine, I think.. Anyway, it's easier to get HG roo tails from markets than from a butcher. Make sure you get them cut up (from the base of the tail to about 25 cm along weighs about 1 kg!). I have been able to cut roo tails with a sharp knife but it took a while and didn't smell so good
jillybean
What area are you in? I found frozen roo tails at a butcher in Eastwood - the asian one near Franklins. I think they were $7 per kg bag.
westielover
I got some 'kangaroo shanks' from that Petcare200 store - there is one in Castle Hill and their other store is in Carringbah. Dogs LOVE their roo shanks!

Dogs4Fun
Hi guys, Thanks again for the input. I'm in Eastwood, so the Eastwood butcher or the Castle Hill shops sound like a go. Awaiting further instructions ...
