Vaccinations And Chipping

Recommended Posts

Got a quote tonight from 2 different vets, Im after a C3 and a Microchip, the first vet said $60 for both walk in walk out. The second vet said $70 for C3 first pup, then $60 for each after that. then $55 for MC....

How the hell do vets get away with charging prices like that? how do they stay in business?

Just wanted to know what other people actually pay in the Sydney area...

I haven't vaccinated my dogs for a three years and back then the vaccination cost $89. My vet quoted me $65 for a microchipping so I had it done at the RSPCA with a council voucher = total cost $10 which allowed me to donate the extra that I would have given to my vet to a more deserving cause. I gave it to rescue. That made me feel a hell of a lot better than giving to the vet.

Where I work we do not do C3 vacc ,we do C4 which is $74 or a C5 is $87......microchipping is $46

ETA thse prices include health check and advice and the consult fee.

we also have a breeders discount which has to be approved by the vets beforehand.

Vets can charge what they like- much like Drs.

I paid about $40 for microchip and vaccination C3 added up to approx $85- consult and examination included.

I'm in a regional area.

Pups should be sold microchipped already.

Knowing a good vet is very worthwhile.

I'd pay more to see a better vet even if it is for something as straighforward as vacc and chipping.

What area of Sydney?

Did you want someone to recommend a vet?

I paid $15 for Mia's microchip from the AWL and about $60 for her C5 vaccination.

The prices of vets to vary, some by only $2 or so and others more like $15-$30. It is worth going to a vet you feel comfortable with.

The other half just told me it was all about supply and demand!!!!

Can't believe in a 5km radius how the prices differ from each vet, this is South Western Sydney.

Vet 1 - $60 for both C3 and MC - Cahords road padstown.

Vet 2 - $70 for C3 first pup, $60 for each other that and $55 MC Panania Vets.

Vet 3 - $26.40 C3 and $32 MC Bass Hill.

Vet 4 - $67 1st pup, $57 2nd pup, $47 3rd pup and remainder for C3, and $45 for MC Fairford Road.

And Why does MC vary in prices, they should just have a set price for MC seeing that it is compulsory!

Not Sydney either, but i paid $75 for C5 vacc and Microchipping for the Border Collies... it has now gone up to $80 for the both which is still pretty good. That is with a health check aswell.

prices & vets vary find a good vet & you get what you pay for ;if your a breeder find a vet who gives breeder discount ;if your not & bought this pup from a registared breeder they are responsible for first vacine & microchipping (all pups must be microchipped before they are sold&have had thier first vacine;(a full health check should be included in the price of vacines)
