pomquest
I just picked up Boo from the Vet. She had a retained canine removed. Spud had 3 removed last year as well. My question is this: can dogs have more than one type of canine? I didn't think so but the receptionist said that Boo had a double root canine whereas Spud's were all single root, I think she said front canines but aren't all canines in the front??? . The reason I questioned her was because Spud's extraction cost $135.00 for three teeth and Boo cost $175.00 for ONE tooth! She said it is harder to pull a double root canine. Did I get ripped off???? I was going to ask the Vet but they said he was busy and sent Boo out with someone else. BTW it is the same Vet and we spend heaps of money there! Now I feel like a dumb s**t for not knowing this if it is true
EISHUND
They only have 4 canines. eta: the other teeth are called incisors, molars and premolars. edit again: i'm wondering whether the nurse was referring to molars as being 'double root canines' (rear teeth) and the front 'single root' canines are actually the incisors. Sounds as though she refers to ALL dog teeth as canines Edited January 15, 2008 by LuvMyWhiteShep
