Cleaning Face (around Eyes And Beard)

Hi all,

We have a new dog and I am still learning a lot about him. His name is Alfie and he's a 6 year old black coated Shih Tzu X. I think he has a quite Shih Tzu face.

Just wondering what I should do/use to clean around his face and eyes? So far we've been using just water and a wet washer but I'm not sure it's being terribly effective.

What do others use?

Dogrooma and Westiemum, recommended this lady to me for my Gr's skin issues. I had at least a 30 minute chat with Lynda this arvo and I can tell you now the lady knows what she is on about from the way she speaks!

They get sticky and goupy dont they!! You should get a groomer if you are not confident do cut away the hair from the corners of the eye. It will stop the gooey build up they can get. If its one whos eyes weep quite a bit you will have to regualy clean the area to avoid a yeast type build up. I just suggest salty water. Other than that use a genle shampoo maybe a puppy one if you are worried about it accidently getting in the dogs eyes. Wash the beard with it too, thats fine. Get right in there are scrub away with a wash cloth and a comb if nessisary, you cant do any damage. Always make sure to groom out your dog when dry after a bath, if you dont it the quickest way to matting.

He's having a wellness visit with our vet next week and I'll get some groomer recommendations from him. I'll be asking the groomer lots of questions
