I found something the other day that I think I might try after finding a couple of fleas on Orb... It comes in spray or 'bomb' style mist... called Protect-a-Home and claims to control the life cycle for up to 12months in the house... anyone used it???

a couple of years ago I had a flea infestation. Frontline just wasn't making the cut.

I flea bombed the entire house and put advantix on Onslow. That seemed to do the trick. You can get the flea bombs from the supermarket, read the directions carefully and go out for the day.

I also think that Onslow at that stage weighed from memory 37 kgs. The frontline was for dogs up to 40 kgs so I wondered if the dose wasn't strong enough for him. The Advantix was for dogs up to 45 kgs or 50 kgs.

Cavandra, I'll try that as I love using natural methods over chemicals. I also have the equipment to extract my own essential oil so can make some of it myself! I use a herbal method for worm control but never considered it for fleas!

Onslowsmum, does Advantix cover ticks as well? If so I think I remember trying it on Axle before he went missing and our fleas just kept on coming. I tried quite a few spot on treatments and nothing worked except the permoxin. The cats are doing fine though but they are the ones who spread the fleas into my part of the house.

I'll get some flea bombs when I go out next and do the house

Do you mean the cats are not being treated with anything? You need to treat them as well.

You will also need to do the whole house. Not just your part.

We still have Fleas after using the spot on treatment 2 days ago, I've only found a couple, i don't know if he's picking them up outside or not, we have recently moved house I guess there could be an issue here.

Might call the pest sprayer and ask about spraying the house and outside for Fleas?

You can use Apple Cider Vinegar to treat Fleas in many different ways.

Not only can you add it to their water but you can spray bedding daily as well as the animal itself. Very effective longterm natural method if you are consistant .

I'll have to try apple cider, I've got a bottle of it but to use it I have to ensure his bowl is the ONLY water source there. If I leave the toilet door open he will open the lid to drink it.

Can I add some apple cider vinegar to the wash to help out? I am going to wash all of his bedding, all of my bedding and hopefully set off a flea bomb in the next few days.

I'll also be trying the natural method with all those oils but it'll take me time to source everything.

I also had an outbreak when i was living in Nth Qld, tried washing all the bedding, external washes/applications with Frontline and nothing seemed to help until i went internal with sentinal and capstar (on advice of vet its better to used both)..i also used the flea bombs, but I am not too sure how effective they were.
