jaegertheweim
My dog has had a sore on his ear for almost 2 weeks now. I can't remember how he got it but it looks fairly superficial and even though it bled a little at first the blood clotted fairly quickly and it seemed like it was healing quickly. Problem is he's so clumsy that each time it starts to heal up, he nips it on something and the scab falls off. Have been applying a little bit of topical antiseptic cream on it so that it doesnt get infected. Is there anything else I could put on it to help speed up the recovery? (Husband suggested taking him to the vet tomorrow but I thought I'd ask here first) Thanks in advance
Poodle Mum
Big, floppy weibanana ears.........he is sooooo cute. I wouldn't take him to the vets just for that. Just make sure the flies stay away!!
shmoo
do you have any paw paw ointment or salve? those will help protect the wound and assist in healing. dont put any human antiseptic on, could do more damage than good
dogsforall
i would use something like paw-paw or something that promotes healing dermaclean lotegen to get it healed quicker antiseptic cream kills bugs but doesn't promote healing anyway you can protect the ear for a few days to give it a better chance to heal i know little dogs wear snoods and it you got a pretty color he would still look beautiful dfa
jaegertheweim
It started seeping so we took him to the vet yesterday. The vet was stumped.. said he had never seen anything quite like it. Couldn't have been a bug bite or something self-inflicted or caused by another dog as it didn't have those characteristics. In the end we came to the conclusion that it was a questionable spider bite. He got a cortisone shot, some cortisone cream and some antibiotics. Hopefully it will heal up soon!
