MonElite
As my Rex is absolutly collar smart - I certainly dont get a recall from him like I would with him wearing the collar. If I go out and he is going to be off lead he always wears it. Sometimes its not even charged and I dont have the remote but he doesnt have to know it , dont you go telling him However, all other excercises he performs the same way. Having said that - I actually dont know for sure as I never ever train him any more, for at least last 12 months if not longer. Except coming when called I have no requirements for Rex to do any formal excercises. He knows what to do/not to do and when. I can not remember when was the last time I have corrected him for anything.
Steve K9Pro
So, just say you are out, and somehow dont have the equiptment, can you still expect 100% from the dog? I am not talking about rewards or corrrections, i just mean having to use the collars once the dog is trained. K9: yes, expecting a 100% reliable recall from my dogs isnt "working", so I dont require any equipment. If I wanted a "formal" heel or any in depth attack work, then I would use a collar as a trigger... Same like an SAR dog would use a harness/bell etc
