Kaz
I thought I'd better start a new thread even though everyone is probably bored to tears with everyone wanting to know how to clip their dogs. I'm a real newcomer to this grooming thing as my dogs tend to be short coated however I have gone out on a limb by fostering a couple of poodle x girls from Renbury Farm. I have no idea at all what to do with them and really need some advice. I have only had them for 24 hours and so far they have been washed and brushed with all their burrs removed. I was wondering what would be the best thing to do with them taking into consideration comfort and adoption appeal. This is Sasha

Doggrooma
What is it that you want advice on exactly? They look like they have ok clips for now.
Kaz
Not sure - Doggroomer. They look very fluffy around the face and feet. I have been getting advice on the poodle thread but it all seems very complicated with all the different size shavers. I have trimmed the hair around their feet but I think that the rest is a bit beyond me. I have heard that the right cut gives a rescue dog the best chance of getting a home. I think I might have to just take them to a groomer and see what they charge.
BC
They're nice and short so your job will be relatively easy. Just continue to brush every day or two with a metal comb down to the skin to make sure all knots, burs and grass seeds are removed. Also brush areas such as legs, armpits, ears and behind ears, tummies etc as these areas are prone to knot if left. Also give their faces a wash down after meals if you notice they are getting food slops stuck in it Just saw your recent post. You could take them to a groomer to get their feet and face shaved so they look much neater and more like a poodle, however, they will not have any top knot though as this will take a little time to grow so it is up to you. Cindy is also less poodle than Sasha, but there is not harm in getting a poodle clip done for both of them. It does help rehoming with a nice haircut Edited December 9, 2007 by BC

Vehs
At the moment they look fine Maybe in about two months they might actually need a clip and you can trying asking a groomer to do a #4 for them.
GoldiesRgr8Poodles2
Sasha could benifit from having a poodle nose becuase she is more poodle but if a poodle clip is attempted on Cindy it might look a little strange becuase she has straight fur where sasha has curly fur. Your could jusut use a pair of scissors to do it for noe depending on how confident you are with scissors but otherwise #10 face and feet (less suvere than a #15 most poodles get) and maybe a #5 body and legs. Will keep them cool and reduce the number or burrs slightly. I personally would say a comb and a slicker brush 2-3 times a week or when there are burrs. 1 burr casn cause a matt very quickly. Good luck!
Poodle wrangler
I don't think they look bad at all. Shaved faces are hard to do if neither you or dog are used to it, ditto feet. Just trim away as much as possible from the feet, especially the undersides and between the "toes". Don't go up the ankles- bad look. Keep it short under their tails, too. Brush, then comb down to the skin (otherwise you get knots). I've had some shocking clips when trying different groomers, so best to get a recommendation if you decide to go that way. Sorry, I'm too far away to help. With rehoming- if you clip the faces short, people may think their fur grows that way I'm amazed how many people think poodles have naturally short fur on face and feet!
