Interceptor Spectrum And Drontal?

 Share

Recommended Posts

As per vet's recommendation we are now giving Jaeger both Interceptor (for heartworm) and Drontal (intestinal worm) monthly (he's under 6 months of age)

But I just read this:

Drontal is recommended for the control of all gastrointestinal worms in dogs including roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm (including hydatid tapeworm).
INTERCEPTOR® Spectrum is a convenient and simple way to protect your dog against heartworm and the major intestinal worms. Incl roundworm, hookworm, tapeworm and whipworm)

Is it necessary to be doubling up? Or can I just give him Interceptor alone once a month?

I don't worry about the Drontal, but use Interceptor Spectrum and Advantix.

If you're using Drontal, then you might as well use a cheaper heartworm preventative.

Otherwise you're doubling up preventing most of the intestinal worms.
