Newbie Starting Training To Be A Trainer!

Hi Everyone!

I was just curious to know what experience etc some of the professional trainers on here have, what courses/certificates/training they've done, and also what peoples thoughts are about the NDTF course?

I'm starting this course in the new year after doing a fair bit of research on all the courses that are on offer. I am so excited

Any advice?

I did the course in 2000, there are some doing it currenrly. Well worth doing

How much do you really learn about drives, behaviour in the general trainers course in 8mnths ?

Do many people who do it have little experience in training or do they require people to have a certain level of experience to apply ? I think for the canine behaviour specialist course you do but what about the dog trainers certification ?

I think that the Dog Trainers Certificate doesnt require any previous experience but you must be able to read and write in English well.

The others require some experience or you completing the DTC first.

I havent done the course but i would like to soon.

You learn heaps about psychology, behaviour and motivation types and different styles of training. Definition of drives etc but not so much practical working with prey drive (or not when I did it - 2000 - may have changed).

You don't need prior experience for thr dog trainer certification, but do for the others.
