laffi
My 10+ mo golden retriever started thinning her hair near her eye about a week ago. Has anyone had the same problem? Her skin doesn't look inflamed or irritated... I think it's maybe  because of her halti, that she has been rubbing heaps when it was on (we started using it regularly only 2-3 weeks ago)... needless to say we stopped using it when we saw the fur thinning. She is on Advocate so I don't think it's mange .... Any suggestions? I attach a pic to illustrate what I mean.
poodlefan
My first question was going to about whether you used a halti. I think that's the answer. Give it a month or two to grow back. If there's no inflamation or infection, I think that's what it will be.

Ahona
What's a halti?
laffi
What's a halti? It's a type of halter, like the one you put on horses. It stops the dog from pulling when you go for walks because you guide their head. Edited December 6, 2007 by laffi

cazxxz
If your dog pulls, maybe you could try a Sporn harness. My dog has sensitive skin too. With a regular harness (which doesn't make him walk very well) the skin under his front legs gets irritated, but with the Sporn harness he hasn't had any problems. AND he walks beautifully when it's on him without causing any pain or discomfort. A miracle!
