millie
Tape worm will also cause a dog to scoot. Has your dog had any fleas? Even one can cause flea tapeworm.
BC
If your dog is wormed regularly, yes, it could be anal glands. Its quite common in small breeds. As you have never done it before get the vets to express them for you as there is an art to it, and I cannot desribe how gross it is. You will nearly spew when you first see it done Vets could prob show you how to do it, or you may decide it is a permanent job for them. If your dog goes to a groomer, some of them will do anal glads as part of their service. Edited December 3, 2007 by BC
Poodle wrangler
As others have said: 1. Make sure he's wormed e.g. Drontal allwormer. You can get another brand from the supermarket. 2. Vet to check anal glands. If they need expressing, the vet can show you how to do it. 3. If it is anal glands, maybe add more fibre to bulk up stools as a preventative e.g. mashed pumpkin. Staff'n'Toller
Yep see your Vet to check the anal glands, I just found a very early tumour in one of my dogs anal glands whilst cleaning them out, so it's always good for the Vet to have a look. fbc
Thanks guys, he is wormed monthly with guardian chewables, don't have any flea issues either so i'm thinking it is the gland thing. Don't worry i have no intention of trying to squeeze em myself looks like it's a trip to the vets for spikey lol
