chloebear
Just had my puppy desexed she is 6 month old. She was desexed yesterday, when I picked her up from the vet they advised to cut her food down by 1/3 to 1/2 now that she is desexed (change of hormones). I was also advised that I can walk her the next day............I feel this is pretty soon. If i cut her food back to what they have said she will only be getting about 3/4 to 1 cup of dry biscuits a day...is that enough for a puppy. She is a large cross breed from the pound, so breed unknown my guess is a ridgebach cross she is currently 17 kg stand a little above knee height on an adult. I am amazed at how well she is recovery. Poodle wrangler
I'd not exercise her much for a couple of days. Short, on-lead walk would be fine, but why push her? No jumping up for several days, either. The vet or vet nurse should have given you a sheet outlining post-op care? As far as food goes, what does she look like now? Can you post a pic with a side-on view? You should certainly keep her lean for the sake of her health and bone health in a large breed dog. Quantity depends on exercise and the dog themselves- always go by how she looks rather than a set amount. eta: I would expect to have a fixed charge for grooming one of my dogs, though I'd think it reasonable to charge more if when I got there my dog was found to have knots and I wanted some coat left on. Guest Tiggy
I think it's silly to tell you to cut back the food, not all dogs put on weight after being desexed and she's a growing pup. As for exercise Banjo had a couple of days off then was back to normal but when I had my bitch done she got a large swelling from being too active(she's a nut!) so it might pay to be careful with your girl.
