Diarrhea

Blossom are you in Melbourne? If so there is a gastro bug going around in the dog world. The vet said they'd seen quite a few dogs with the problem in the last few weeks. Two of mine had diarrhoea that I guess was picked up at the local park. I put them on a boiled chicken and rice diet for a few days.

The Cavalier had to have Metronidazole though, the diet itself was not working. The diarrhoea lasted for about 4 days before any improvement but they're all fine now.

Strangely enough my old girl didn't catch it, neither did the boy Cav.

No, I'm in Qld... glad to hear yours are ok after catching it.

He has gone five times today now... but he's still his normal self, eating drinking and causing mischief

I'll keep an eye on him.. thank you

You can get Peptosyl from the vet and give three times a day.

Do not feed him for 24 hours, allowing the bowel to settle as feeding him only irritates the situation, just be sure that he is taking in plenty of fluids and if you have them some electrolytes added to the water, prevents dehydration.

After 24 hours feed him boiled chicken and in the broth from the cooking of the chicken place some rice in it and boil until it has absorbed the liquid, then the rice is really starchy, this certainly clogs up the problem, keep him on this until the motions are normal.
