Kalevi
Hi folks, I'm getting a puppy on Dec 8 and really want to start a puppy pre-school before the new year. I'm near Berwick but happy to travel where ever necessary. Does anyone know of any classes that may be running in December? Thanks, Sarah
Paganman
I think most puppy preschools are closed in Dec and Jan I guess a lot of people go away and its not worth them keeping running a lot of obedience schools close as well.
Cosmolo
We have one starting this Saturday- in Ormond though- only thing i could suggest is that you come to the first few weeks without the puppy and then bring the puppy when you have him/ her. Not ideal i know but better than having to wait till the new year to get started.
coco22
hi sarah, i'm sending to my puppy to a preschool too. if you want i can PM the contact details to you. the one that i am going to is quite flexible. there is no fixed start date and you can start anytime. there is 1 private session followed by 6 group sessions. you can skip a class if you are busy and rejoin the following week. the pups in the class are all at different stages of the class so yor pup will get to socialise with many different pups at the end of the preschool. they are available at 5 locations too. maybe you want to give them a call to find out if they will able to get you started in dec. Sticks1977
I'm getting a puppy on Dec 8 and really want to start a puppy pre-school before the new year. I'm near Berwick but happy to travel where ever necessary. I currently have our chocolate labrador - Fraser - in training at Australian Dog Training in Berwick. They give you a free first lesson which is to find out about the temprament of your dog and what class or level you would be suited to. Most of the people (including ourselves) have gone for the 'Gold' level of training. The upfront cost is pretty hefty, but considering it is training for the LIFE of your dog (you can take your dog to training as often as you want to for as long as you want to) I think the cost is pretty good for what it is. They have training in Berwick at the Chisholm Tafe Campus each Saturday morning. We started taking Fraser from 12 weeks of age (once he had his second vaccination) and he started in a "puppy class". I highly recommend ADT if you are looking to have your dog advance past puppy pre-school and want to get into training.
