cowanbree
My gorgeous wee 12 year old Kayla has had lung cancer for over 12mths now. With the assistance of prednisone she has far surpassed the vets guesstimate of her life expectancy. Last week I found a lump unlike any lump I have felt before. A vet visit confirmed my fears, it is cancer. The vet said leave it, accept what is going to happen and enjoy her while I have her. 90% of me agrees with him but a small portion thinks she is so well currently there must be something that can be done without putting her through operations or discomfort. I accept she is in the last portion of her life, she is coughing more and sleeping a lot more than she used to but overall she is eating well and seems quite happy. Does anyone have any suggestions? Flaves
I am sorry to hear about your girl. I do agree with the vet You haev had 12 years, enjoy the time you have left. Keep her as pain free as possible, an operation will stress her lungsand she may die under a GA.
Her Majesty Dogmad
My dog has had cancer for 4 years and I have found a hard lump on her. She is 16 years old and on chemo tablets. I don't feel anything more can be done. She has outlived vet's expectations that's for sure. Just make the most of her while she's with you. Give her healthy food and perhaps you could try contacting a natural vet or homeopath for something herbal as extra support. Best of luck.
dogbesotted
My girl lucinda has been living with Mast cell Cancer grade 3 for over 5 years now. the tumour was removed without clean margins. Lucinda has more lumps now but I have chosen to ignore them as she reacts so very badly to anaesthetics and being away from her environment.. so for me it has finally become a case of believing that Lucinda is here for a good time... she is holistically treated. I would be inclined to consult with a reputable holistic vet to get support for kayla.. it does help Cheers
