jaegertheweim
I've been doing some reading and have narrowed it down to these three: Advance Senior Dog Royal Canin Medium Mature Eagle Pack Select Senior Care Formula Am interested to hear your thoughts on what would be the best choice
Sheridan
Why don't you get a small bag of each, one at a time, and see which your dog does well on? Is this the retired show dog you're getting from the breeder? What food does the dog eat there? Might be better to stay on whatever food its getting now. Muttly
think that is a good suggestion. What works for one dog will not be a great for another. My last senior thrived on Hills Science and Euk. But the main thing is plenty of fresh meat including fish imo
jaegertheweim
She's on Proplan but I'm having trouble finding specific information about its ingredients. She also gets the meat loaf type stuff which they sell in the refrigerated section of the supermarket she's a little on the round side which is one of the reasons I am considering changing foods (will be exercising her too of course) Edited November 19, 2007 by kathyinjapan
Muttly
fresh is best Try a google on BARF diet. ALso sardines in oil - no name brand once a week is good, as well as eggs with shells crushed up. If she is rotund, not too much chicken meat. The packaged stuff you are feeding is likely quite high fats. With any change in diet, do it slowly adding one food at a time in small quantities slowly building up. AFter a week or so of no adverse reaction you can try something else. Is this a dog that you have not had long and do not know her history re/ diet? If so, go slowly but fresh is better, low fat meats like Kangaroo, then beef, fish once a week etc. Edited November 19, 2007 by Muttly
ShesaLikeableBiBear
We feed Nutro Natural Choice as the basis of their diet, they make both a senior and a light, together with Ziwipeak. Then sardines in oil and chicken wings.
