I love dribbly dogs
For about the last 4 - 6 weeks we've occassionally noticed a small wet patch on the back steps.. too small for Kleo's wee but bigger than a dribble patch so though Ruffles may have been getting excited and weeing (she never really has but we didn't know what the liquid was.) Anyway, we got back from a day at the lake and Kleo was laying on the back pavers relaxing.. then some liquid started coming out from under her back half... she was peeing while lying there. and when OH tried to get her to get and go to the grass she didn't want to move until she had finished peeing. So we figure the wet patches on the step are probably Kleo 'cause she lies there a bit. She is a Saint Bernard... Is she getting old? (she's 6 1/2) Or is it laziness? Or could it be the heat (was 31 here yesterday)?? Or could it be something wrong with her bladder?
Cavandra
Incontinence can happen at any age, but is linked usually to early age desexing. One of my oldies now past 12, started leaking at about age 6, and she went on a drug (whose name escapes me ) for a short while & she was cured. I doubt she would be doing it for being lazy, there would be a reason for it. If this has just suddenly started there may be a kidney infection or hormonal like I described above. Her Majesty Dogmad
Cavandra is spot on. Could be an infection or hormonal probs. Vet check is required to diagnose. One of mine started peeing on the beds and in the car, mainly when she was asleep. She's been on meds for 2 years and there's been no more accidents. Nasty problem but turned out to be really easy to manage!
