chloebear
My 5 1/2 month puppy, breed unknown rescue puppy but we have had her for approx 6 weeks now has started to play tug of war with my washing whilst hanging on the line. Today is the first time she has done it, but has ripped my brand new set of sheets up (I am fumming to say the least), she has toys to play with, bones plus I had only been outside with her no more than 15 minutes earlier. How do I correct this behaviour?
Nekhbet
keep washing away from pup ... its become a really fun game! You can hang a couple of towels smeared with chilli sauce or bitter spray and leave them up until she learns
chloebear
I hope she likes her kennel, I have a young family so I wash daily, and I always use the clothes line.
BC
This is hard to stop as it is self rewarding for the dog. Do a search on the topic as there has been many discussions on techniques to stop this, but personally I would just hang the washing somewhere else. Paganman
hahaha my two both did this in the end they grew out of it. I fenced off the washing line for a while.
chloebear
hahaha my two both did this in the end they grew out of it. I fenced off the washing line for a while. The worst part, not just any sheets - I just brought new curtains, quilt cover and matching sheets for my daughters room as she is unwell to cheer her up, and yep they where her new sheets...........grrrhh
Poodle wrangler
Yep, must separate dog and washing. If you have a garage, can you set up a line in there for a while? Dryer's not very environmentally friendly, but perhaps cheaper than new sheets ?
Tonymc
Chloe,as others have said separate the washing and the Pup.The Pup is only doing what comes naturally and acting on Prey Drive. Tony
Flaves
My washing is hung up inside unless i take the dogs out for the day as Hunta thinks it is a really fun game ripping clothes off the line. I can be out and go in and by the time i have walked 5 mt there is already stuff off the line.
cavNrott
Fence off the clothes line would be the easiest.

grumbles
Im lucky where I live it only takes a couple of hours to dry so i lock my naughty dog up while it out on the line then let him out when its dry
moggy
We had a German Sheperd many years ago who used to pull things off the line. There will probably be cries of outrage on DOL when I tell you the method told to us. Hang an old towel or piece of sheet on the line. When you see your dog dragging at it, go out and show him you are not pleased. Take the article and tie it round his neck. Leave it there for a few hours. It will drive the dog mad trying to get if off. He will hate it. But it cured our dog. He stayed right away from the clothes line and never touched anything on it again.
