Chipper
Giving Duke a good belly rub today he layed on his back and his top lip was hanging down. Just as I was telling him how beautiful and white his teeth were I noticed that he has a broken one. Top one before the canine. It isn't red or swollen and given the fact that I didn't know it was broken I had given him a chicken carcass earlier in the morning. He is not showing any signs of discomfort at the moment and he did let me touch it. Should I get him to the vet? Would leaving it this way do any further damage? What about infection? I have no idea how it could have happened and even in the rain I went out looking for the other half. I can't imagine it would have broken on a chicken carcass???? He has had these before. Would appreciate any info/suggestions.
Tapferhund
If it is not worrying him I wouldn't worry too much. The next time you take him to the Vet get the Vet to check it then.
sheree_e4
If the tooth is chipped look to see if you can see a pink spot in the middle of the tooth if so that is the pulp so he will be in pain,If you want to get the tooth capped you will need to see the vet ASAP as it must be done within 48hrs for optimal results, also the tooth can become infected and cause more problems.I have just had my dogs tooth capped(her canine) and highly reccommend getting it done rather than having the tooth removed, cost around $100 more but a great result and would do it again if need be.
