Reddii
Hi All, A lady here at work's son is having a few pack order issues with their staffy x lab and a newish baby. Nothing serious yet, but she can see there is the potential for real problems if it isn't addressed. I don't think from the sound of it that it's time for a behaviourist just yet, more that the son needs guidance about how to train the dog. Does anyone know the nearest obedience club to Keperra to at least point them in the right direction. Failing that can someone recommend a good at home trainer who's name I can give them. Cheers. MrsD
Tony, try Val Bonney out at The Gap, just do a google on her, they are very highly recommended, I have a friend who instructs there. ETA - now Im thinking Im not sure where Keppera is, apart from northside, Metro club may be closer, look in your dog worl for their details, they train at Chermside. Mystiqview
Reddii, I would possibly tell them to go down to Vals on a Saturday morning from 7am. They train at the school grounds off Settlement Road and Chaprowe streets. If the dog has issues, I would best advise they sort those out before going to any public club where those issues can get worse. The trainers at a public club are volunteers gained from members who have either gone through the class ranks or have been training and competing for awhile. So knowledge and experience base greatly differs. There is a person down at Vals called Bob who would also be worth talking to. Baldy fellow. Quite knowledgeable and professionally qualified/trained. Thanks MV. I've sent them the link to Val's website and the Grand Mum (my friend) is quite excited about the idea. Even if the son doesn't end up taking the dog there I think my friend might - they lost their dog (a BC btw) about 18 months ago and love the little pup we are talking about. Cheers.
