Speaking only from my personal experience I would always choose Royal Canin.

My lab has eaten all 3 brands but when i changed her over to RC Labrador Retriever I saw massive changes in her condition, she slimmed down and her coat became so shiny and silky.

I also prefer RC cat food over the other brands too.

Why only those 3??

Don't know really - they just seem to be the main 3 I have been able to find at pet supplies stores.

No - just a minute - seem to remember a vet or somebody saying to me ages ago that these 3 were far better than the supermarket brands?

Eagle Pack Holistic, Nutro, Natural Balance - all far better choices, available at some pet supplies stores or online for home delivery.

The quality of the ingredients and their provenance is better.

Do a search through these forums, there is a wealth of info.

Thanks Gomez. Have tried for a quite a while with Nutro, but for some reason our dog doesn't seem to have taken to ti. So Eagle Pack and Natural Balance are better than Royal Canin?

(have done a search, but everybody seems to say something different so not sure what is right and what is wrong.)

austen, the ingredients are better and there are less fillers

have a look at this website: http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?page=badingredients

read the labels on the food, compare and contrast ingredients and then you can decide what you want to feed your dogs. everyone will say something diferent because all the dogs are different - having said that, if you start with the best possible ingredients and formula, then you can go from there depending how your dog is doing.

unfortunately, due to AQIS restrictions, there are very few super premium foods available here, so the choice is limited - but you can also feed raw or homecooked if you don't find anything else fits the needs of your dog.
