choc_bordercollie
I have a 15 month old blue merle border collie and the past couple of times we have been out with him he always cocks his leg and wees on me. When he does this I make him submit straight away is it a dominace issue with him? he always prefers me over my partner and follows me everywhere does this have something to do with it? thanks in advance
saintlysusan
Omg, I have a friends dog (Border Collie) who also does this to me, or tries these days... I wonder why also?
sheree_e4
He is claiming you! My dog Junior (black dog) Used to cock his leg on me and everything he could reach before he was desexed. Since he has been castrated when he was 1 (8yrs ago now) he has stopped marking people, other dogs and anything that is considered not his. I also joined dog obedience classes. If you were the ALPHA he would not dare do this to you. It is a dominance problem, you say every time he does it you make him submit - in what way? If your leadership is lacking which it sounds like it is,he will continue to do this even though when he does it you make him submit - by you making him submit when he does it and you not being alpha makes him want to mark you again. If he is entire and not going to be used for breeding DESEX him ASAP. I suggest you do some of the following- 1.Do not let him higher than yourself (If your on the lounge he is on the floor) 2.Do not let him on your bed-if you want him in your room finr but he has his own bed on the floor. 3.feed him after you have eaten 4.do not pat him when he wants to be patted-Only when you want to. 5.make him work for his dinner- get him to sit then you pretend you are eating the food before giving it to him. 6.do NOT let him walk in front of you - This includes doorways, gates and when walking he should heel -I have a release word which is 'go play' this means my dogs can walk ahead or be let off for a run BUT they are also told "working" for the walk home so they know they can walk ahead but when I say so hope some of this helps
choc_bordercollie
by submission I mean I make him sit and drop on my command and make him stay until I say he can move. desexing is not an option as he is a pedigree and will be used for breeding. I only ever feed them after we eat and he has to work for his food, he is not allowed on the lounge or beds, and I always enter and exit the door first when we go out. Tonymc
Choc has this happened only when your out and about with the Dog or at home as well? Tony
choc_bordercollie
Only when we go out and has done it only twice in the last few weeks, I mainly would like to know why I he might be doing it? I am positive I am pack leader he always does what he is told and is submissive to me aswell.
Clyde
I had a Rotti foster who would do this and although I've heard it's the norm with dominance there is no way he was a dominant boy. He was very nervous and would only pee on me when he was unsure - crowds, storm brewing etc.

Her Majesty Dogmad
Dominance behaviour, something you need to address. Be careful this behaviour doesn't escalate and cause something like the following to occur. A lady with a BC cross in our local park who always urinated on her if she stood still, sat down etc., picked up one of my little dogs for a cuddle. Before I could do anything, her BC x leapt up and attacked my foxie, knocked me over, I fell backwards and my little dog got away from him only to be chased by a kelpie x and a Bernese, all 3 chased him until the kelpie x got him in HIS MOUTH. The other owners did nothing whilst I ran screaming my lungs out prepared to fight for my dog. It shocked the kelpie x and the others and he dropped my dog who was bright enough to run for his life. Did the woman learn? No, the first time I went back a few months later (this incident shook me up and left my dog traumatised for a long time), she went to pick up one of my other dogs .... luckily I stopped her in time but I haven't gone back to this park again. choc_bordercollie
My boy does not have a mean bone in his body he is such a sweet natured dog and is very well socialized with other dogs. we do flyball with him and have NEVER had and problem with him attacking other dogs. we have been out many times since the 2nd time he has peed on me and he has not done it again. hopefully it was just nothing. percyk
ive had that happen too it was with a dog that i was minding who was undesexed the owner had gone overseas and was held up the dog was a gorgeous am cocker ...not a mean bone in his body but the first time i took him to be groomed he urinated on me after greeting me enthusiastically i have minded him from time to time...he is a big soft sookie boy but he piddles everywhere and cant be in the house one time ..i was letting a pup out for a wee..just before going to work and he wee'd all over the fluffball..that was so annoying cos i didnt have the time to really take care of it..had to give a quick wipe with the sponge the weeing was done on my property and at the groomers he is quite a submissive dog with my two desexed bitches and has never ever ever bitten i once saw a daddy dog pee all over the basket of pups he had fathered! great ritual hey ...can u imagine !!! so i guess it is all about ownership and marking dont know if undesexed dogs would do it and i dont know if once desexed these' offending' dogs would change their happy ways kinda funny but if its about possessiveness as dogmad describes then its definitely time to talk to a professional u could start with a water bottle i guess or any other technique that can startle him but if its hormone driven it may be hard good luck and do keep posting
