Asalei
Tonight at 6:30pm, my husbands family lost an important part of their family. Kelly, their 16 (one month off being 17) year old dog was put to sleep due to a rapidly growing cancer that had grown on her leg. Unfortunately today it got to the point where she couldn't walk, wasn't eating and there was blood in her urine. It was time to make the decision to euthaniase her. She lied in the middle of the lounge room, facing the view of the city, watching the thunder storm roll on over as she had her whole family sit around her in a circle to say good bye. I think this was harder than saying good bye to my own family dog. To see the whole families hearts break as they said goodbye was just horrible. The vet did a home visit as the family didn't want to move her around in the car. With one last sigh, she was gone This was the hardest thing I've experienced. Then the vet announced her heart had stopped beating. I've known Kelly for nearly 10 years of her life. She was such an intelligent dog who never ran away from an unfenced yard. She was so loyal she would never run away because she knew how much love and attention there was in the house for her. We all walked down and placed a shovel of dirt onto her lifeless body. Good bye Kel, who's going to share our bacon at Christmas? Who's going to clean up the scraps after a family dinner? Who's going to be nuzzling everyones arm at the dinner table for a pat? You will be greatly missed. Run along now and fly with your wings over rainbow bridge and once you're there, Gypsy will be waiting for you.
