chloebear
Holly is 4 months old, just discovered a lump between rib cage and hip on her side. The lump is about 5 cm ball shape and soft, my husband is worried that it is a cancer tumour. She is eating fine, and drinking well. No problems with going to toliet. She is due to go to vet on Wednesday, but I am just feeling sick at the thought of something happening to her.
sheree_e4
Being that the lump is soft it could just be a fatty lump, however she may have ran into something and its just swelling from a truma.I would reccommend that you measure the lump over the next couple of days and see the vet on wednesday and tell him if its grown. It may even be a grass seed in which case it would need to be removed by the vet so maybe take her in tomorrow instead of wednesday. Either way get the vet to do a fine needle aspirate to make sure. sas
It could be anything, may just be fat. To put your mind at ease, just pop to the vets earlier than Wednesday. They will probably want to take a fine needle biop on it.
percyk
cancer is usually hard and fixed...u cant palpate it the way u can with a benign lump... if its soft and u can almost put ur fingers round it its probably just a benign lump...my dogs have those....esp round the ribs and its soooooooo scary when u find one but the vets are pretty quick to assess these things and the two dogs i had years ago never had to get a biopsy or anything and they lived til 14 and 15!
