Poodle wrangler
Is #7 too short for spring-summer? I've always clipped the mini poodle #5F in the past, so haven't gone this short b4. The #7 is for the apricot standard poodle who seems to feel the heat. He hasn't got the best poodle coat (wavier, less dense). I clip his belly with a #10. Thanks. frufru
Do the body with the 7f and the legs with a 3f or scissor quite short otherwise he will look like a plucked chook
BC
You'll find the 7F will not look that much shorter than the 5F. I agree though, keep a little extra length on the legs by scissoring in a nice cylinder shape.
Ari
The length change between a 5F and a 7F will make little to no difference in regards to the heat though.

Must not clip legs too short , must not clip legs too short Edited October 3, 2007 by Poodle wrangler

Poodle wrangler
i did a 7 lamb on a toy just two days ago. looks fine Charlie's much loved, but I'd not call him good-looking. Need something "flattering" if you know what I mean . Hard to ignore 25kg of unfortunately clipped poodle
GoldiesRgr8Poodles2
I have 2 mini's that have short cuts on 5f and one 7f and i find a big difference in them, Despite having the same coats. The 7f looks more smooth and velvety that the 5f but thats me. I agree with everyone for a standard leave the legs longer although i would persoanlly go with a 4f for the legs not a 3f. just more in proportion but its all relative to your taste. And i think your standard boy is abolutely stunning!
becks
I would stick with the 5f, you don't want the sun getting to his skin and burning it, perhaps just clip a bit more often?

Poodle wrangler
Took some pics yeterday. I don't have a #7 blade, so did both dogs with a #5F body- though it looks much shorter on the apricot standard because his fur's not so thick. I think the #7 might be too short on him. Had a lesson from Charlie's breeder, too, so the scissoring's better. Day after, took the dogs to the beach . Ah well, they are dogs after all
