Loraine
Zedley is on a course of herbal remedies from Robert McDowell for itchy skin. I am running with the instructions but now Zedley has itchy ears. I do use a cleaner and keep them as clean as I can. If I take him to his regular vet she will possibly give him antibiotics and/or steroids. Now obviously I can't do this and give him Robert's stuff. Please advise me how I deal with this. Maybe just an email to Robert, just don't want to be a pest (so I'll just pester you guys )
Poodle wrangler
Have you tried using Malaseb (antibacterial/ antifungal shampoo) as an ear cleaner? You use it diluted 1:50 with water. Nicer for dog if it's lukewarm. That's not a very strong concentration, so maybe OK?
blacklabrador
May be part of the detox.
Loraine
Thanks Poodle Wrangler and Blacklab. I do think it is part of the detox. I will try Malaseb. The poor lad is so miserable, and so am I as I hate to see him this way.
dogbesotted
I would be using the following: !/3 organic apple cider venegar with 2/3 water. use as a douche. The vinegar acidifies the ear environment and keeps bacteria and yeast under control.

Janba
Be careful with the vinegar if he has scratched his ears so there is broken skin, it will sting like hell. I use dilute malaseb and it doesn't seem to sting broken skin.
