JeffnCel
I'm just wondering what people here think of kangaroo mince?? We're switching Buffy (6 1/2 month doberman) to a BARF diet, and want to vary the meats used during the week but I've heard that because kangaroo is lean you need to supplement with some type of fat?? Does that sound right?? Also heard it can be rich for puppies?? Just curious thanks in advance
B-Q
not sure, but I'd be interested in knowing to. Our lot get mainly chicken, and beef bones and lamb bones when they're there but usually chicken.
KitKat
Roo meat is very lean - however if it's used as a part of a varied diet it's fine for pups/dogs. However it is a rich meat so introduce it gradually as it may go straight thru them if you aren't careful. Roo on the bone (roo tails) are a great way to go. JeffnCel
Buffy is loving her roo tails!! I'm just worried about giving her only one kind of meat in her meals. We're going to be giving chicken carcasses, along with mainly chicken mince and processed vegies, and yoghurt/eggs once a week, then I thought one or two kangaroo meals, and maybe one or two offal meals. I'm so new at this. Does that sound right? Then there's the beef/lamb bones and chicken wings throughout the day to nibble on.
deltron
My dog eats roo mince all the time. I make him a barf type mix primarily made up of roo mince, tuna and turkey mince as well as veggies, cheese and some olive oil. He also gets chicken necks and some still have skin attached so I figure he gets a bit of fat that way too. My dog is lean but not skinny and his coat is shiny and his eyes are bright so I think the roo mince must be ok for him.
Guest Tiggy
I love feeding Kangaroo. Game meat is excellent for dogs and Kangaroos are truely free range. I feed Kangaroo BARF Patties, Kangaroo tails and Kangaroo meat. I probably feed half Kangaroo and half chicken, lamb etc.
