sandgrubber
Everybody talks about chicken frames as a commodity, but having been through four suppliers (I get 100 to 200 kg/week, some for my dogs, some for the boarding kennel, and some for other breeders), I conclude that each source varies, and the sources that leave a lot of meat on also tend to leave a lot of fat, and sometimes fat and skin on. My breed, and a few of my dogs, are prone to obesity. Accordingly, I trim off the main fatty bits and toss them (sometimes to the magpies). Often this reduces the mass by 10%. And I can still see all my dogs' waistlines Do others do the same?
JENCOL
The Frames I get are generally fatty which I prefer, so no I don't trim them. My dogs are more prone to being a bit lean, this may be more because they are extremely active. Jenny
WreckitWhippet
I am blessed with a supplier who has no idea how to bone a chook and we gets heaps of meat, the neck and some fat on the chook. My guys all run a V8 engine, so there is no trimming here. I chuck the skin out as the Pointers and Pugs don;t like it, but they eat the rest. Aziah
No trimming here, they are fed as they are but our guys are on the go all the time and aren't prone to obesity.
Guest Piximatosis
Nope, I just give the fattiest ones to the GSDx who even SLEEPS actively...
Kavik
No trimming here, my guys also tend to the be on the lean side, active buggers they are
Seita
No trimming here either! I'm flat out trying to get weight onto my girl so the extra fat is better for her! But my mum's dog is the opposite and she struggles to keep weight off him so feeds him chicken wings instead!
Tahini
No trimming here either, as the whippets and cresty are pretty lean at the best of time.
Rebanne
I feed them as they come. I just tried a new supplier, boy were they big, meaty, and fatty. I cut Piper back to 2 and Fern back to 1 1/2, instead of the 3 and 2 they were given before.
Poodle wrangler
Mine aren't fatty, so I give them as is.
Guest Clover
I trim the extra fat off my Border Collie girls, as she tends to get tubby just looking at food . Her extra's get tossed to her brother who is hard to keep weight on. Depends on Clover's condition at the time, sometimes i trim hers sometimes not. And the pup only has chicken frames from the supermarket, so they have pretty much nothing left on them.
