Mooper
Thanks for that info, Stormie. I did some hunting as a result ... it seems they were acquired by Mars and then created this "new formulation" of rubbery, completely soluble Greenie. More info here. Turbo
Yeah my mum buys her "Grandfurs" Xmas presents - last year it was a pack of "Greenies" for our German Shepherd bizzare coloured stuff it went down a treat with her though she like them. schnauzer_luv
The verdict is in...several times over - even new formula greenies make poos green and runny! Probably because he is only a puppy though and it was his first one.
Mooper
I don't know about the runny poos, but Greenies do make dog-poo green because of the chlorophyll in them. And I've recently discovered that polarfleece tug toys make rainbow-coloured poo
Paula-
Jaaaaack you're not supposed to eat them!!
EmmaKate
I hadn't heard anything bad about greenies....I give them to my pup occasionally. He has no problem breaking them down, and his poo- though slightly green (only from the chlorophyll, so no probs there), is unchanged. They don't seem to be super hard, I can cut them up and bend them and they go quite soft when he chews them. He loves nawing on them and getting little bits stuck in his fur! Angelina
My 3 love them, but I only give them for a treat, every now and then. There very expensive. My cat loves the cat ones too.
sas
Apperantley they are quite harmful to dogs It's really unfortunate that went around. They're as harmful as chicken necks and small bones. Greenies are only suitable for dogs who chew well, they're not suitable to gulpers, it states that on the packaging. Yep and you have to make sure you give the right sized greenie (not too small for a bigger dog). My dogs get one each once a week I have found a big improvement (she has lost some tartar when she had some at the back) in Cleo's teeth since I started giving them 2 months ago.
